Applications open for 2007-2008 ClassNominations are now being accepted for this year's District Leadership Academy. Introduction to Leadership AcademyHere is the opportunity to become really knowledgeable about Rotary, your service club and all of its programs worldwide. And here is the opportunity to further develop your leadership skills. How? You can choose to participate in the Leadership Academy sponsored by District 6760.
Club Presidents and Past Presidents, as well as other club and district officers, Past District Governors, Assistant Governors, and committee chairs, are urged to nominate at least one outstanding member from their clubs. Presidents Elect are especially urged to apply so that they may thoroughly prepared for their leadership role next year! Top Rotarians from the District will be selected to participate during the 2006-2007 year. Rotary year 2000-2001 was the first year for the Academy, initiated by District Governor Paul Sands, and it has been a resounding success under the leadership of PDG John Butler. I have thoroughly enjoyed my years of directing the Academy, and look forward to the class of 2006-2007. A new group will be selected each year, and persons not selected during a given year will have future opportunities to participate.
What is expected of participants? Each individual must:
Each participant will be provided a set of resources, materials published by Rotary International, such the ABCs of Rotary and Manual of Procedures, and our own District 6760 District Directory and Rules of Procedure. Lessons are completed and sent or faxed to the Rotarian instructor who prepared the particular lesson.
The cost of the Leadership Academy is minimal—about $60 for all resources. Travel to the closing seminar will vary according to distance. The clubs in which the participants are members are asked to cover all costs for the Academy.
The Leadership Academy will provide District 6760 with better prepared leadership, Governors, Assistant Governors, committee chairs, as well as local club leaders. Current club presidents may want to participate, but presidents elect will certainly want to sign up today! Participants genuinely enjoy learning about the great service club of which they are members.
