Subscriber, as we
embrace the New Year and all of its potential,
we may evaluate some of the ways we do things -
in order to improve our service. I'd like to
thank those who took the time to respond to our
survey for this newsletter. An overwhelming
majority of the respondents were satisfied with
The Blast! and its content. We also recieved a
lot of great ideas and requests, and you'll see
some "tweaks" in our format as we strive to
improve while retaining the popular features.
One of the
most requested improvements is also one that I
have almost no influence upon. By far, Club
Projects/Information are what most of you would
like to see more of. I encourage you, as a
leader in your club, to engage your PR
committee and whip up a small article on your
club's goals, projects, and outstanding
individuals and submit it to The Blast! You may
be surprised at what a little PR can do. PDG

viewed here (you'll have to scroll down a
little) -- Ken Ivey

Family of Rotary
Let's think of Audrey
Roberts - Director of Vocational
Service, whose son has recently undergone
bypass surgery.
Please remember in your
prayers the family of Mike Dickerson,
Assistant Governor, 2003-04, Union City, who
died last week.
John Stone, member of
Donelson-Hermitage Rotary died during heart
surgery at St. Thomas. He will be sorely
missed. He was truly the most benevolent man
I've ever known. -- Troy Feltner

Rotary Awareness Month -- Project
Promotion via the Internet
Recent PR efforts by PDG James Johnston
resulted in additional support for the
Honduras WCS Project.
Excerpted email:
I had a pleasantly surprising phone
call this morning from LeeAnn,
president of the Greenville, Calif.
Rotary Club asking if it was too
late to donate to our WCS project.
She said her club was 8 members when
she became president in July and is
now up to 11 members and wanted to
get involved in a WCS project.
Greenville is a small community in
the far Northeast corner of
California.
She said she found out about our
project on the internet from the
article I had sent out asking for
sponsors. She said she was mailing
a check to me today for $500 to wire
two houses and apologized that she
could not do more. Thank GOD for
the power of the internet!

RI Convention
PDG John Miles
offers some RI Convention travel tips.
Ken, this is an item that might be
worth putting in the Blast! I just
learned that Delta Air Lines now has
non-stop flights between Nashville
and Salt Lake City which is great
for those going from Middle
Tennessee to the Rotary
International Convention in June.
The aircraft is a MD-90 which is a
full size domestic jet, but there is
only one round trip flight a day.
Going, it leaves Nashville at 4:45
pm and arrives in SLC at 7:30 pm
(Mountain Time). On the return
trip, it leaves SLC at 10:15 am and
arrives in Nashville at 2:45 pm.
(This schedule allows plenty of
commute time from Middle Tennessee
areas to/from the Nashville
airport.)
I made my reservations,
even selected my seats, on the Delta
Web Site which is:
www.delta.com
I hope that this information is
helpful, and even encouragement to
attend the convention and to enjoy
the Salt Lake City area. - - John
Miles
