Rotary District 6760                                                Lead The Way !

[fname],  do you remember this story?  It seems there was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.  Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.  Somebody got angry about that, because it was Everybody's job. Everybody thought Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.  It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done!

Please, don't be like Everybody!  We need Somebody -- no, Anybody - to do what Everybody could have.  Besides, quite frankly, Nobody has done enough!  :)  But seriously.....  we DO need some photos or video of your club's projects for the District Conference.  Please email them to me.

Additionally, please note our call to remember Rotarians who have passed during this Rotary year.   See you at the Conference!  -- Ken Ivey

 Governor's Notes
Fellow Rotarians,
Lack of education is probably one of our biggest shortcomings in Rotary.  How do we get the word out to every person who joins Rotary?  One way is to have a District Assembly where we can train the leaders of the clubs.  This training is aimed at the officers and committee chairs.  This past Saturday, April 21, PDG Glen Vanderford and DGE Rufus Clifford did an outstanding job of training these key personnel at the Renaissance Center in Dickson.  Tommy Martin and his team did an excellent job in preparing our outbound exchange students.  There were 83 Rotarians in attendance.  These Rotarians gave up their time on a beautiful Saturday so that they could learn more about Rotary and how to serve more effectively.  I salute everyone for their efforts and dedication.

We are closing in on completing another Rotary year.  There are only two-plus months left.  What can we do to wrap up this Rotary year???  One area where we can still make a difference is Every Rotarian Every Year (EREY).  I hope that each of you has (or will) set aside twenty-eight (28) cents per day in order to contribute your one hundred (100) dollars to The Rotary Foundation (TRF) this year.  You can easily send in your contribution in different ways:
  1. Give the money to your club treasurer to send in to TRF.
  2. Go to www.rotary.org, where you can view your personal giving history and make a contribution by credit card online.
  3. Go to www.rotary.org and download the contribution form which you can fill out and mail with a check to TRF.
Be sure to indicate that your contribution is to go to the Annual Programs Fund so our district will receive half of this money back for local use in three years.  It's as easy as that!!  Thanks to those of you who have contributed already this year and have helped us to increase our giving by 21% over this time last year.  Please take a look at your financial statement and see if there is some discretionary money that you can send to The Rotary Foundation as we continue to change the world.  This needs to be done by the end of May in order to guarantee recognition for this year.

From Russia With Love
For two weeks, the Murfreesboro Rotary Club has opened their homes to eleven Russian citizens who are participating in the Center for Citizen Initiatives PEP (Productivity Enhancement Program).  This delegation is composed primarily of Realtors who are trying to explore new ways to business in a land that until recently did not have a Real Estate market.  Mortgages are also a relatively new concept in Russia, and the exposure to our Real Estate training is invaluable to them.  When the Russian team is not in "school", they're immersed in the culture of the "typical" American family, where we learn how life is in each other's country.  This is a great way to promote goodwill and understanding among nations, and I encourage everyone to "home host" a Rotary GSE team or similar exchange like PEP.  Pictured are some of the more talented members of the PEP club, singing in Bubba Woodfin's log cabin.

The next big event is the District Conference in Murfreesboro during the first weekend in May.  There are no registration fees for the conference.  You may attend as many plenary sessions and eat as many meals as you can work into your schedule.  We are flexible!  And we are going to have fun as we celebrate the close of a very successful year.  Just go to www.district-conference.com where you can register and reserve meals online or download and print a registration form to mail in with a check.  However you do it.....just do it.  We are looking forward to seeing you and yours then.
                                      Continue to Lead the Way,
                                             Slick
