Subscriber, it's
hard not to be inspired by Rotarians. This
issue was already completed, and I was ready to
retire for the evening when I received an email
from Lawrenceburg President Neal Beard. I might
have saved it for later - but I was hooked. His
story speaks mainly to the project, but more
importantly - to the character of the Rotarians
who participated.

Governor's
Notes

Where has it gone? Where has
the Rotary year gone? We have four
more months of the Rotary year
left. What have we accomplished?
Has your club accomplished enough to
be recognized for its achievement at
the District Conference? I will try
to help explain some of these awards
that you may qualify for.
First of all, we have several
awards that are broken down into
Foundation awards, general
awards, and individual awards.
Yes, size does matter. There
are three size categories and
they are:
- 0 - 25 Small
- 26 - 55 Medium
- 56 + Large
Please, when you submit your
club for awards, prioritize the
Presidential Citation and the
STAR Awards. My goal is for
100% of the clubs in District
6760 to receive both of these
awards. That is a very
achievable goal.
The one non-negotiable criterion
for the Presidential Citation is
that your club must have a net
increase of one (1) member from
1 July 2006 to 1 April 2007.
For information on the other
four (4) activities that will
qualify your club for this
award, go to
www.rotary.org/programs/awards
/club/presidential.html. You will also find there the Presidential
Citation Certification Form
which you will fill out, sign,
and have in my hands NLT 1
April.
My mailing address is:
S. J. (Slick) Frazer
11777 Big Springs Road
Christiana, TN 37037.
I have to submit this
information so that RI receives
it NLT 15 April 2007.
The STAR Award is simply
recognition for your club's
contributions. It is a
Foundation award. Based upon
your 1 July 2006 membership
figures, if your club averages
one hundred dollars ($100) per
member donation to The Rotary
Foundation by 1 April 2007, it
has qualified for the STAR Award
and has achieved the
Foundation's goal of EREY (Every
Rotarian Every Year). Please
send this information to me NLT
1 April.

The most
pressing
deadline is the
one for
submitting your
application for
the Significant
Achievement
Award. Since I
have to submit
my nomination
and supporting
materials to RI
by 15 March, I
need to receive
applications NLT
10 March 2007.
Interested clubs
should
submit applications
as soon as
possible. I am
permitted
only one
nomination from
this district,
which will be
considered by
the RI selection
committee.
The purpose of
the RI
Significant
Achievement
Award is to
recognize a club
activity that
addresses a
community
problem or need,
to encourage new
projects on the
part of every
club, and to
promote
increased
awareness of the
importance of
exemplary club
efforts.
The projects
must also
involve most
club members, be
easily copied by
other clubs, and
must be current
or have ended
during the
2006-07 Rotary
year.
For further
information on
eligibility
requirements and
the nomination
form, visit the
Significant
Achievement
Award page on
www.rotary.org/programs/awards/club/significant.html.
This award
recognizes
outstanding club
service
projects. To be
eligible,
projects must:
-
address a
significant
problem or
need in the
local
community
-
involve most
or all of
the club
members in
personal
rather than
monetary
service
-
be
commensurate
with the
club's size
and
resources
-
be capable
of emulation
by other
Rotary clubs
-
be currently
active or
reach a
conclusion
during the
Rotary year
for which
the award is
given
-
be carried
out by a
single
Rotary club
No club may
receive the
award more than
once for the
same project.
I am looking
forward to
seeing your
accomplishments
recognized as
this Rotary year
draws to a
close. You are
to be commended
for Leading the
Way in making
your club,
community, and
the world a
better place
through your
Service above
Self. |

G'day
The Aussies are coming....
What a Great Opportunity to taste the
International flavor of Rotary. If anyone in
you Rotary Club would like to host a Rotary
Couple from our Sister District in Western
Australia please consider being a host. At this
time we are trying to finalize our
arrangements.
You will find attached an agenda, hints to those
who may host and a form to submit your
willingness to host. Please look this over
and consider this great opportunity to show
"Rotary Shares". As I've experienced in many
years in Rotary I find being involved with the
International aspect of our programs is so
rewarding. If you can't personally open your
home consider allowing and encouraging others in
your club to do so.
As you'll see we have many side trips planned
while they will be in West Tennessee April 23-28
to entertain them. The host may join in these
events if they wish or just allow our guest to
attend allowing the host not to feel that they
are responsible in entertaining our guest for 5
days. The couple may be shared by others in
your club if needed, but we suggest not to move
them more than once (two hosts) 2-3 day stay so
they don't have to move a lot for that is
inconvenient.
Please considering this great opportunity. If
you have any questions please feel free to
contact me, 731-668-9851.
Thanks,
Glen Vanderford
