Short Term Program (Summer)

 Application Fee:  $300
Covers cost of orientation, t-shirt, insurance and district administration -- Payable to District 6760 Rotary Youth Exchange

Round-Trip Airfare:  $1,000 - 1,500
Depends on destination and demand; students have secured fares as low as $675

Personal Expense Allowance:  $400 - 500

Estimated Total:  $1,650 - 2,250

Long Term Program (Academic Year)*

 Application Fee:  $800
Covers cost of insurance, blazer, orientation and district administration -- Payable to District 6760 Rotary Youth Exchange  (Note:  if application is not approved or placement is unavailable, all except $75 of the Application Fee is reimbursable.)

Unrestricted Round-Trip Airfare:  $1,000 - 1,700
Must be unrestricted n the event of an early return, for whatever reason, becomes necessary)

Personal Expense Allowance:  $500 - 800
A minimum of $500 must be available for student's personal account in host country -- to be used for larger expenses i.e. clothes, shoes, medicine, etc.  As this fun is depleted, it needs to be replaced.

Travel While Overseas:  $400 - 1,500
A complete estimate -- optional end of year touring trips are often available at additional cost as well as holiday travel, etc.

Host Gifts, Business Cards, Visa:  $300 - 500

Estimated Total:  $2,500 - 4,000

* Students are provided a monthly allowance by their hosting clubs while on the long-term exchange.  This allowance is usually adequate for lunches, bus fare, small personal items, etc.

Application Process
Both Short-Term (summer) and Long-Term (academic year) applications may now be typed and printed from the computer.

  1. Choose either Short-Term or Long-Term Program
  2. Type in pale yellow spaces and print one page at a time
  3. Please type in the name of your local club president as well as the name of your local club secretary (if you have questions on this, contact your local Rotary Club or Glen Vanderford for the information)
  4. The name Glen Vanderford should be entered as the “District YE Chairperson” on page 1 of the application
  5. On the cover page of both Short-Term and Long-Term application, type under “Submit completed application to”:

  6. Make four copies before you have them signed. Attach good pictures (paste on, please do not staple)
  7. All signatures must be in BLUE INK. Submit FOUR signed copies of your application, along with the necessary application fee ($250 Short-Term, $650 Long-Term made payable to District 6760 Rotary Youth Exchange), the Supplemental Information Sheet, and the Host Family Application to your local Rotary Club. Keep one copy of each for your own records
  8. Complete the Supplemental Information Sheet online—print and attach to Application
  9. Print off and complete the Host Family Application—attach to Application
  10. Once approved by your local Rotary Club, they will forward the applications and application fee on to the District YE Chairperson for approval and match.
