March Newsletter

Wow can you believe we are already in March!  So much has been happening this year.  We had our first Mid-Year conference which was a huge success.  There were over 130 Rotarians in attendance Friday night for the Foundation Dinner, and our speaker Floyd Lancia was very inspirational.  So much so that we were able to sign up 20 new Paul Harris Society members that weekend!  We had over 40 clubs in attendance to get qualified for Grants.  Overall I think fun was had by all.

March puts us into the home stretch for The Presidential Citation.  Your club has to have completed the requirements for this and posted them in My Rotary by April 1 2016.  Go to My Rotary to see the requirements and look at you clubs progress towards the Citation.  If you are just a few items short, get to work to be finished by the end of March!

I have been looking at the numbers for the Foundation Share totals and we are behind last year’s giving at this point.  So far there has not been a club reach their goal for the Elvis Challenge.  I hope everyone is not going to wait until the last minute to get their donations in for the year to both The Annual Fund as well as my $40 Polio Challenge.  Please look deeply with in yourselves and let’s all donate to both of these great worldwide charities.  Hardly any other charity in the world has the ability that we as Rotarians have to effect real and permanent change throughout the world.  Let’s not let the world down!

As you recently heard we have a new District Governor Nominee Designate!  We are delighted to have Laquita Stribling joining the line of ascension to District Governor in 2018-19.  Laquita is Past President of the Nashville Club and a Regional VP for Randstat USA.  Help me welcome her aboard.

In closing let’s all offer a prayer for recovery of Past District Governor Larry Boyd.  Larry is on the mend from a heart attack last week.  Larry you are in our prayers and we wish you a speedy recovery.
