Welcome to May! Where has the Rotary year gone? Just like our kids growing up too fast, the Rotary year goes by too fast. I look at my two sons, Ethan is 24 and Austin is 22, (they should be 12 & 10 – it all happens so fast).
And the Rotary year is the same. May is Youth Service Month. Rotary has so many ways through which we can help our youth in our community and around the world. Interact, Rotaract, RYLA, Rotary Youth Ex-change, and the Four-Way Test Speech Contest are great ways to help young people grow in our schools and programs. Rotary clubs also serve our young people by reading to kids, supporting backpack programs, providing dictionaries to 3rd graders, and offering scholarships to deserving students, just to name a few.
We need to keep getting young people involved in what we do. They are eager to learn and grow, but they just need Rotary clubs and Rotarians to give them leader-ship.
